Miss L, 24: "Ask and it shall be given"

After a quick conversation with Miss L on Instagram, I knew you guys needed to hear what she had to say. She's an inspiring young lady who is passionate about building up and growing towards success. Here are her answers to our 5 Goal Getter Questions.

1) Salary; Include a breakdown of your budget and what your biggest expense is.

Salary: $35,000 - $45,000 p/a 

Budget Breakdown:

Rent - $8, 760 p/a

Car Insurance - $1, 360 p/a

Phone and internet - $1, 680 p/a

Car maintenance  - $1,500 - $2,000 p/a

Utilities -  $1,000 - $1,500 p/a

Groceries - $4,000 - $5, 000 p/a

Total average of $20, 300 p/a spent on bills

2) What Industry do you work in?

Disability and age care

3) How did you land your first job within the industry?

While I was on placement for my CERT III in Individual support I asked the manager at the time if there were any job vacancies. She said yes, I landed a group interview and soon after got the job.

4) What motivates you?

What motivates me is the fact that for me this job is a reminder of the main goal which I am working towards achieving. I’m currently at uni and will be graduating soon into the mental health field.

Not only has this job given me experience with lots of different people but it has also improved my social skills with clients and has been a great learning experience. Choosing this field of work was intentional as it will be useful in my career.

5) Do you have any advise for others looking to enter or grow within the industry?

The best advice I can give it to step out of your comfort zone and be intentional if possible with the jobs you choose while working towards your career.
